Alan Brooke

Like most exceptional officers of WWII, Alan Brooke cannot be easily summarized. He commanded a lot of respect for his strength of character and “stiff upper lip”, and had a great influence on Allied strategic planning, being an exceptional staff officer. However, he was also a brilliant field commander, proving himself in the Royal Artillery during World War I. Nonetheless, his willfulness sometimes made him a hard man to deal with. And nobody could hold a grudge like Field Marshal Brook could.
