Currently a within the Sleemon Empire's Navy as the Captain of the S.S Pathri, the Flagship of the Imperial Fleet. While Drachell itself doesn't have much in the way of water, the fleet was created to shuttle all of the Mechamail units back into Illymader when the time comes. Carter himself, however, isn't your typical soldier. Spending all of his spare time at the local Pub, drinking himself into a stupor, leaves more questions about him than answers. Carter wasn't born nor raised within the Sleemon Empire. Instead, he grew up with his 1/2 family in Lorham in a Dwarven village among the Ironmongers. When Carter was a teenager, a legendary creature known only as Crag Maw, burst through the earth in the middle of his Village, consuming more than 1/4 of the town instantly. Everyone fled as the beast began to devour everything in sight. Carter was knocked out during the eruption, but was covered by debris, so was left rather unscathed. Weeks went by and no one returned to the village to try and repair. Carter was lost, unsure what to do. He had no family, he had no heading to another settlement, he was... lost. Hearing of the Crag Maw attack, a band of raiders ventured into the village area to see what the could salvage. They found and took in Carter, teaching him how to steal, pillage and other unpleasant things. Carter grew up ravaging the mountainsides of Lorham until the day the band decided to move East, towards Lochsea. Never really liking the lifestyle he was forced to live, Carter saw this as his first chance to escape. Over the course of a week, whilst the group slept in Lochsea, Carter built a small raft and sailed way in the dead of night to Illymader with his only friend, Gyi. Carter and Gyi ventured into the Sleemon Empire's main stronghold in Illymader and began to live their own lives. Gyi stuck with his low-life ways, pickpocketing and stealing what he could to get by. Carter joined the military. However, Gyi saw this as only a benefit, asking Carter to get him this and that, time and time again. Carter complied, because he felt somewhat indebted to Gyi, as Gyi was the one who found Carter back in Lorham. Carter saw this as a life debt. Years go by, Carter finds a lady, settles down and starts a family. He is now part of the Navy, running good into Fayvale every few months and overall moving up the ranks in the Military. Gyi's exploits of Carters nature continue, but Carter begins to take his stand, saying that he will not do any other work. After returning from a voyage to Fayvale, Carter returns to his house to find it ravaged, his wife gone. There is a note... from the raiders that Carter escaped from. They had found him. His kids, however, were safely hidden away. Carter went to King Sleemon himself and asked for assistance. The King was more than willing to grant sanctuary to Carter's children within a stronghold in Lorham but in return asked that Carter join him as Captain in the expedition to Drachell in the coming months.
