Animated Steam Profile Backgrounds
Animated profile backgrounds are looping videos that replace the static background of your Steam profile. They are sold only in the Steam Points Shop, mostly for 2,000 points, and can't be traded or bought on the Community Market. Below are all 1,666 of them, ranked by community votes: hover a card to watch the preview, open it for the full-size animation, the game it belongs to and similar backgrounds. To use one, buy it in the Points Shop, then pick it under Edit Profile → Profile Background.
If you experience lag with videos, you can preview them as static images
Frequently asked questions
How much does an animated Steam background cost?
Almost all animated profile backgrounds cost 2,000 Steam Points. Points are earned by buying games and content on Steam (100 points per US dollar spent) and by receiving awards.
Can I buy animated backgrounds on the Community Market?
No. Animated backgrounds are sold only in the Steam Points Shop and can't be traded or sold.
How do I apply an animated background?
After buying it in the Points Shop, open your profile, click Edit Profile → Profile Background, choose the animated background and save.
Why does my animated background look static?
Steam shows a still image when animations are turned off in your Steam settings or when the client limits animations to save resources. Visitors with animations on still see it move.
